Hannah is a stand-up comedienne. It is her unique, laconic humour that clearly distinguishes her from bread. She is available for corporate hosting, MCing, and cabaret performances.
Her droll delivery, punctuated by delightful wordplay and heartbreakingly funny observations about her own life and family, has delighted audiences all over the world.
Hannah began her stand-up career in 2006 when she was discovered at the Hobart Comedy Festival. Later that year she went on to win the national final of Raw Comedy. Hannah followed this up with a very impressive second place in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s So You Think You’re Funny? contest before embarking on her first solo show, Hannah Gadsby is Wrong and Broken, which won the prize for Best Newcomer at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2007.
Since then, Hannah has toured Hannah Gadsby is Wrong and Broken in both Edinburgh and New York; been one half of the razor-witted award winning Meat The Musical and been invited to perform in Comedy Zone, a revue curated by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to showcase Australia?s best up and coming comics.
In the last few years, Hannah has performed to sell out houses at comedy festivals across the country, accepted an invitation to perform at the exclusive Kilkenny Comedy Festival, the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival and appear Edinburgh Fringe and New Zealand Comedy Festivals and in 2010, receive the Directors’ Choice Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Hannah has been a guest on ABC TV’s Spicks and Specks and New Zealand TV 3’s 7 Days and in 2011 you can see her weekly on ABC TV’s Adam Hills In Gordon Street Tonight.
Desperate to make use of her Art History degree, Hannah wrote and presented two specials for ABC TV’s Artscape, and takes every opportunity to present her incredibly popular comedic art lectures at festivals around the world. Hannah’s latest art based offering, three part documentary series Hannah Gadsby’s Oz will air on the ABC later this year. Hannah is also taking her 2014 show, The Exhibitionist to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she brings her love of art into the prime time with a look at portraits, propaganda and show-offs. She will also be giving lectures alongside Phill Jupitus at The Scottish National Gallery.
Hannah is writing her first book, based on her 2007 stand-up show and this is due for release shortly, and in 2011, released her first stand-up DVD “Kiss Me Quick I’m Full of Jubes” through Madman Entertainment.
