Charlene White is one of Britain's most recognisable broadcasters. A trailblazing journalist, author, and presenter, her career has been defined by breaking barriers and telling the stories that matter.
A cornerstone of ITV News since 2008, Charlene made history in 2014 as the first Black woman to present ITV News at Ten. She is a longstanding member of the Loose Women presenting team where she helmed the show's landmark all-black panel special; a cultural moment which won a Royal Television Society award and received a BAFTA nomination.
Her documentary work is equally impressive. She co-hosted Has George Floyd Changed Britain? alongside Sir Trevor McDonald, and fronted her own primetime ITV documentary, Empire's Child, which traced her family's place within the British Empire. She also created IRL with Team Charlene, an animated series tackling racism for younger audiences, which won the Royal Television Society Award for Best Children’s Programme.
As a writer, Charlene is a regular columnist for the ipaper and has written for the New York Post. Her critically acclaimed debut book, No Place Like Home, which weaves her own story as a Jamaican Londoner with the perspectives of eight individuals whose understanding of home has been shaped by family, conflict, and displacement, has earned her widespread critical praise.
Charlene is an accomplished and versatile host and speaker who is equally at ease steering high-profile panel discussions, facilitating candid leadership conversations, or anchoring large-scale conferences with polish and authority. Her hosting credits include the Bett Show, the Ethnicity Awards, the RTS Craft Awards, and the Black Women in Asset Management Awards, among others. She speaks with authority and personal insight on topics including representation and inclusion, the power of storytelling, mentorship, resilience, and leading with purpose.
