Emma Freud OBE is one of Britain's most remarkable figures. As a broadcaster, writer, and cultural force, she’s been involved in some of the most beloved and impactful projects of the last three decades.
As co-creator of the Make Poverty History campaign and co-producer of the Live 8 concerts, Emma has shaped some of the most significant moments in modern charitable history. Her decades of work with Comic Relief, including producing Red Nose Day, earned her an OBE from Queen Elizabeth II in 2011, for services to the charitable sector.
Alongside her campaigning work, Emma has built a distinguished broadcasting career.She has co-hosted BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends since its inception, interviewing leading voices from across culture, politics, and the arts. She also hosts NT Live, which has brought productions from the Royal National Theatre to cinema audiences worldwide. As a writer, she won Glamour Magazine's Columnist of the Year and writes the Legal Highs column for Luxx, The Times' luxury magazine.
Behind the camera, Emma has worked alongside her partner Richard Curtis as script editor or co-producer on some of the most iconic British films ever made — among them Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones's Diary, Love Actually, and Yesterday.
