John Whaite is a British cook, author, content creator, and TV presenter.
John first appeared on our screens in 2012 as the winning contestant on The Great British Bake Off. Since then, his skills have been put to good use across studio kitchens. He was a regular presenter and chef for Steph’s Packed Lunch, a co-presenter on ITV’s Chopping Block, and a presenter for Channel 4’s hit primetime food investigation programme, Food Unwrapped.
In 2021, John stepped out of the kitchen and into the ballroom, appearing in the first all-male couple on Strictly Come Dancing, foxtrotting his way to the final.
John has authored five cookbooks, including Comfort: Food to Soothe the Soul, which was chosen as a Book of the Year by BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme. His memoir, Dancing on Eggshells: Kitchen, Ballroom & the Messy Inbetween, was published in 2023. John has also written regularly for The Daily Telegraph and Delicious Magazine, and has worked as a recipe creator and presenter for the Waitrose online platforms.
In 2024, John returned to his baking roots to launch Ruff Puff Brownies.
John is available for workshops and live demonstrations, and these are especially popular at food festivals across the country.
