Kirsty Wark is one of the UK’s trailblazing female news journalists. She presented BBC’s Newsnight for 30 years, stepping down after the 2024 General Election. Her long career on Newsnight has seen her holding politicians and public figures to account with her formidable interviewing skills. She made her reputation as a journalist and producer on BBC Scotland, memorably reporting from the scene of the Lockerbie bombing, before joining BBC 2’s arts strand The Late Show as a presenter, moving on to Newsnight in 1993. Kirsty continued to span both arts and news/current affairs, hosting The Review Show for over a decade, as well as a range of BBC Arts series and documentaries. Over the years she has had memorable encounters with everyone from Margaret Thatcher to Madonna, Harold Pinter to Pete Doherty, Damian Hirst to George Clooney and the likes of Toni Morrison, Donna Tartt and Philip Roth. Kirsty hosts Radio 4’s long-running flagship series The Reunion, and regularly presents of Start the Week. She continues to present arts programmes on TV and Radio, cultural history series such as The Women Who Changed Modern Scotland , Front Row and Panorama specials.

Kirsty has won several major awards for her work including BAFTA Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting, Journalist of the Year and Best Television Presenter. In 2024 she was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the RTS Journalism Awards.

Kirsty is widely renowned as an experienced conference chair host and facilitator, and is also available for keynote speaking, fireside chats and awards hosting.

Testimonials

You were absolutely brilliant and the feedback from the delegates at the reception afterwards was incredibly positive. It was hugely valuable to have your insightful contribution, expertise and excellent chairing skills.
Carers UK Conference Event
The event went tremendously well, everyone from the Chair and CEO down was delighted and Kirsty was a fantastic host. Her hosting elevated the event above usual corporate get togethers with speeches, and helped us to talk about the issues we wanted to on skills and education.
Santander UK Chairman's Event
You played such a key part in the conference, and I just wanted to say thank you. I’m not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that it would not have been the same without you! Feedback on your contribution has been universally positive and really underscores the value in securing the services of a professional to help us make the most of our time together. Personally, I enjoyed immensely working with you and the insight, energy and humour you brought to the event.

Ofcom Plurality of Media
Thank you once again for the role you played in making our conference last week a great success. Not that I needed convincing, but you certainly demonstrated the difference a professional makes to bringing events like this to life, a lesson some of my colleagues elsewhere in the business have yet to learn! I thoroughly enjoyed the energy, insight, rigour and humour you brought to the day
