Kirsty Wark is one of the UK’s most influential and trailblazing broadcasters, with a career spanning four decades at the forefront of news, current affairs, and arts journalism.
As Newsnight’s presenter for 30 years, Kirsty established herself as one of television’s most formidable interviewers, holding politicians, public figures, and cultural icons to account with intelligence, authority, and precision.
She began her career as a journalist and producer with BBC Scotland, reporting memorably from the scene of the Lockerbie bombing, before joining BBC Two’s arts strand The Late Show and moving to Newsnight in 1993. Throughout her career, she has bridged arts and current affairs; hosting The Review Show for over a decade and presenting numerous BBC arts and cultural documentaries.
Her interviews span politics, literature, music, film, and the visual arts, with memorable encounters ranging from Margaret Thatcher to Madonna, Harold Pinter to George Clooney, and Toni Morrison to Philip Roth. She also hosts The Reunion on BBC Radio 4, regularly presents Start the Week, and continues to front arts programmes across television and radio, including Front Row and Panorama specials.
Kirsty’s work has been recognised with multiple honours, including BAFTA Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting, Journalist of the Year, and Best Television Presenter. In 2024, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Royal Television Society Journalism Awards.
For live events, Kirsty brings rare authority, composure, and editorial insight. An accomplished conference chair, host, and facilitator, she excels at steering high-level discussions with clarity and balance. She is also available for keynote speaking, fireside conversations, and awards hosting — bringing decades of frontline experience, gravitas, and perspective to every stage.
