Max Davis is a prolific and highly in demand screen writer for television, who also works regularly in radio and live comedy.

He created the BBC Radio sitcom Parental Guidance starring Romesh Ranganathan, which was nominated for Best Scripted Comedy at the BBC Audio Drama Awards and went on to pilot for TV.

He also writes on the hit Apple TV+ show Trying and is the creator of Humza Arshad’s Christmas which premiered on Sky Atlantic.

Max is a highly sought after joke writer and his TV credits include Apple TV’s Hannah Waddingham Home for Christmas (BAFTA nominee Best Entertainment 2024), The Mash Report (BAFTA nominated 2019), Late Night Mash (Dave), The Last Leg (Channel 4) Too Hot to Handle (Netflix), One Night in London Zoo (Channel 4) and Horrible Histories which won the BAFTA for Best Children’s Writing in 2018.

He also writes for Comic Relief (BBC 1) including the parody Barbie song I’m Just Len featuring Lenny Henry as the iconic Ryan Gosling character, which was shown several times across Red Nose Day.

A graduate of the prestigious BBC Radio Comedy Bursary scheme, Max is an experienced joke and sketch writer for Radio 4 including Wasson Cornwall (nominee Best Radio Sketch Show British Comedy Awards) Alex Edelman’s Peer Group, The News Quiz, Dead Ringers, The Now Show and Spotlight Tonight With Nish Kumar. He was also The Head Writer on the Lenny Henry Show which was nominated for Best Scripted Sketch Show at the BBC Audio Drama Awards.

Max works closely with many of the biggest names in live stand-up comedy, crafting their tour shows, writing scripts for awards ceremonies and corporate events. These include Romesh Ranganathan, Sir Lenny Henry, Desiree Burch, Nish Kumar, Ivo Graham and US super star Michelle Wolf (US Correspondents Dinner)

Max is also a gifted performer. He trained as an actor at the renowned Drama Centre London and has performed in plays in the West End, on tour and on TV. As a stand up comedian he reached the semi-finals of several stand up competitions including the Amused Moose Laugh Off and the Laughing Horse Awards.
